Walker Filtration Takes Part in PwC's '5 Days of Private Business' Celebration

Walker Filtration is delighted to have been involved in contributing to PwC’s ‘5 days of Private Business in Yorkshire and the North East’, celebrating innovation and the variety of businesses success in the area. We are proud to be part of the North-East Business community and have been dedicated to our continuous investment in the area since the Company was established in 1983.

With our Headquarters located in the region for over 30 Years, Walker Filtration is strongly focused upon ensuring there are career progression opportunities for the 200 staff we employ in the North East of England. We also invest heavily in Apprenticeships and Graduate Development Schemes to develop talent in the area.

Manufacturing all of our products in the UK, we export to over 100 countries worldwide, including our Walker Filtration divisions in Australia, America and Japan.

Walker Filtration Donate Easter Eggs To Local Children's Ward

Last week Walker Filtration Ltd employees made their annual donation of Easter eggs to a local children’s ward: Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, UK. As a business founded in the North East, Walker Filtration Ltd is committed to supporting the local community.

Rachel Redshaw, Group HR Manager commented ‘It is great to see the enthusiasm from our staff toward our charity events and fundraisers. The generosity from all of the staff involved in our Easter Egg donation has been incredible.’

The staff donated a total of 80 Easter eggs to children who were spending their Easter holiday in hospital.

Lianne Walker, MBE (MBA) said ‘I am proud of our employees for their commitment to helping the wider community. The donations we have received for our Easter Egg collection this year have been outstanding, it is fantastic to see our staff get involved with so many worthy causes.’

Other charitable events include participation in the ‘Pretty Muddy’ Race for Life charity event, which will take place this June, to raise money for Cancer Research UK.


Walker Filtration Lands Honours at Regional Manufacturing Awards

Having been shortlisted in two categories at this years’ ‘Made in the North East’ Awards, Walker Filtration took home the Innovation Award after proving to Judges that innovation is at the heart of the company.

Walker Filtration, Washington based manufacturer of compressed air filtration and drying equipment, manufactures all their product at their UK office and places significant investment in R&D. Competing against some of the best manufacturing companies in the North East this is an incredible achievement for Walker Filtration as they continue to champion British Manufacturing and push compressed air filtration to new market levels.

Speaking of the award, Group Managing Director, Lianne Walker MBE (MBA) said, “This is a fantastic end to a successful year here at Walker Filtration. The Made in the North East Awards are a celebration of Manufacturing in the region and we are incredibly proud to have been part of this years’ awards.”

She continued, “Following our 2016 Queen’s Award win for Enterprise in Innovation, a second award in this category underpins the company’s commitment to investing in innovation and highlights the engineering and manufacturing talent we have within the business and the region.”

The award was achieved through the development of a unique range of air/oil separators for use in oil flooded rotary vane pumps. The company’s commitment to solid innovation and engineering allowed them to create a product that outperformed competitor products in the market place by a factor of 10.

As a winner of a regional award, Walker Filtration moves forward as a finalist in the National ‘Made in the UK’ event.



Made in the North East Shortlist Success | Celebrations continue with double nomination for Walker Filtration

Walker Filtration are delighted to announce that they have been shortlisted for not one, but two, 2016 ‘Made in the North East Awards’, receiving nominations in the categories of ‘Innovation’ and ‘SME Manufacturing Company of the Year’.

Group Managing Director, Lianne Walker MBE (MBA) commented: “Walker Filtration is extremely proud of its North East heritage, and we are passionate about investing manufacturing and engineering in the region. To be shortlisted for the Made in the North East awards, that recognise and celebrate the success of local manufacturing businesses, is an honour.”

The nomination comes less than a month after Walker Filtration were officially presented with a 2016 Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Innovation.

The winners of each Made in the North East category will be announced on Thursday, 1st December, 2016, at an awards dinner which is to be held at the Radisson Blu in Durham.
